The river Zschopau has only a length of 130 km but presently 43 pcs. of hydropower station are in operation . From the 16. to the  beginning of the 19. cent. were more than  150 mills for seperate purposes  in working. With the start of industrialisation such mills with the best infrastructural condition were changed to industrial factories. Along the River Zschopau the centre of the processing of cotton in Saxony arised . With the beginning of industrialisation was important the utilization of hydropower .With the extension of industrial factories, specifically the cotton spinning mills, the using of hydropower  became unimportant. Today the  hydropower stations were only used for production of electrical energy , then the former industrial factories and companies aren't more existing. Please have a look to my presentation  about "Industry Culture", utilization of hydropower along the river Zschopau" .
